long overdue news round-up; very busy with some great projectsPosted: 21st December 2011

Good grief! It's been far too long since our last news round-up, but as ever it's a sign of busy times and you won't ever hear us complaining about that.

Since the last news entry, we've seen a few web projects completed and gone live.

We worked on the redesign and build of the web site for Go English. We've worked with Go English for many years, and produce all their offline print materials as well as their online promotions. The new website involved a brand new visual design and was built using a mobile-first, responsive approach.

The project as a whole ran very smoothly, from initial discussions to wireframe, and from visual design to prototyping and build. The finished site went live in mid December and can be see at www.go-english.co.uk.

We're pleased to say that feedack so far has been very positive and we're looking forward to working with Go English on the site and other projects in 2012.

Another redesign for another existing client was the Reflex Marine web site. The previous site had grown old and was in need of a refresh and we took the opportunity to update the code with a mobile-first, responsive approach.

The site again uses our in-house CMS, and allows the site admins to easily manage content sitewide, with optimum content delivery accross devices assured by the responsive design.

The final result can be seen at www.reflexmarine.com

We also launched the web site for our good friends and office neighbours Spanish Football Tickets. The site is their main point of contact with their clients, and allows users to book tickets for Barcelona FC La Liga matches.

Once again, we built the site using our in-house CMS and yes, again we used a mobile-first, responsive approach. (When mobile-first and responsive design become the de facto way of producing sites, we won't need to mention this, but until then we'll just keep on saying it!). The site's had positive feedback from users, and we look forward to seeing the site develop over the coming year. To see the site (and maybe grab a ticket for a great match), please visit www.spanishfootballtickets.com.

There has also been the usual support and maintenance work for existing clients, plus a number of ongoing projects that have not yet been completed. As the year draws to a close, we can look back on a busy but successful year, and we're really happy to have had the chance to work with some great clients on some great projects.

We're really looking forward to continuing our work in 2012, and have a number of projects scheduled and waiting to begin, so we will be nicely busy. As ever though, please do contact us for any questions or enquiries!

We'd like to say a big thank you to our clients for entrusting their projects with us. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2012!

long overdue news round-up; very busy with some great projectsPosted: 21st September 2011

Well, even by our standards this is a long overdue news update ;)

Summer has been and gone and we enjoyed some good time away from the office and we hope you did too.

Let's start with some projects that have gone live since the last news update. First up is London fashion label Jocasi. We've been working with Jocasi on their online marketing (web and email promotions) for quite a while now, and were pleased to be able to collaborate on a redesign of their web site.

We were asked to implement a new, fresh and minimal look, and it was also decided that we would implement a new e-commerce solution accross the site. For this we chose Shopify, a great e-commerce platform with a rich feature set, an intuitive and user-friendly management system and, importantly, excellent customization possibilities. (Yes, we like Shopify!)

The new site met the brief and the minimal, clean layout allows the great colours and textures of the products to be the stars of the site. You can check out the final site at www.jocasi.com.

Next up is a site that we put together for the Barcelona networking group The Business Lunch. We were asked to create a site that would allow the group's administrators to announce and manage upcomoing networking events and to generally provide a good online platform for the group's members to network and connect with each other.

We decided to use WordPress as the basic platform for the site, and then used the BuddyPress community plug-in to allow us to integrate a complete set of community tools into the site. Members can create an account and an associated profile, connect with other members by creating friendships, communicate to the whole group or to selected members, view events and promote themselves to other members (among many other features). It's a great tool to reinforce and extend the networking done at the live events, and we're looking forward to seeing it grow and develop.

We added in a custom theme and branding, and built the site with a custom responsive layout too. You can visit the site at www.thebizlunch.com and if you're in the Barcelona area, do come along to the next event and say hello!

(Here's a picture of Matt and Enda at the last Lunch.)

Our latest project to go live is our site for voice over artist Alex Warner. He asked us to produce a site that would reinforce his position as an industry leading voice artist, and that would serve as an effective promotional and portfolio tool.

Audio and video samples are at the heart of the site, and we used a nice HTML5 (with Flash fallback) for the audio playlist, and a set of embeds from Alex's YouTube channel for the video. [Tech note: We wanted to use native HTML5 video with YouTube fallback but Safari is buggy and runs like a dog with multiple instances of the ‹video› element]

As with most of our projects these days, we built the site using a mobile-first, responsive layout so that the site content is presented to the user as best as possible, irrespective of the device or screen space available. Check out the site on smartphones, tablets and desktops and see how the site layout responds and adapts to the screen space available. (If you're on a desktop, just click and drag to change the width of your browser window to see that site respond accordingly.)

We're really pleased with the final result and hope to see it bring good support to Alex. You can see the the site at www.thebritishvoiceoverguy.com.

In addition to the above projects that have already gone live, we've been busy on a number of other projects. We're working with a Barcelona property rental and accommodation company to re-design their site, and are currently working to complete the wireframes before moving on to the visual design. It's a good project to be working on as it involves a lot of important user interface design, and it's quite challenging. Progress is good and we'll post more news when we're able to.

We're also working on redesigns for two of our existing clients. Both redesigns involve the implementation of a mobile-first strategy and responsive layouts, and we're pleased to say that work on both is going very well. We hope to be able to announce a launch for both of these in the coming weeks.

In terms of new business, we're very happy to have some interesting new projects confirmed and due to start very soon. We'll post more details on these when we can and we're really looking forward to working on them!

And that's all for the moment. As ever, please do contact us for any questions or enquiries!

new projects, ongoing work & another site featured on mediaqueri.esPosted: 24th June 2011

It's been exactly a calendar month since our last news post which means that it's high time we provided some news updates. We've been incredibly busy over the last few weeks, and we're really pleased to be working on some great projects, and we're also excited to be talking to some very nice people about possible upcoming projects.

First up though this month is the news that we had another of our site's featured on the Media Queries responsive web design showcase. The site featured was our site for Kingshill Cars which you can visit at http://www.kingshillcars.com (and if you're in the area, and need a taxi, you'd do well to give them a call, of course).

We reworked some of the CSS to include some media queries and a flexible grid, and also rewrote the underlying HTML a little and the result is a lovely responsive design which was featured here: http://mediaqueri.es/khc/.

We were very happy with this project and pleased to have another site listed on mediaqueri.es. If you're not sure what all the fuss is about with Responsive Design, there's a bit more info in our previous news post below, or you can try visiting the Kingshill Cars site and changing the width of your desktop browser window to see how the content and layout changes according to the screen width available to you. So whatever the device you're using to view the site, the content is delivered in a way that is most approriate to the user. Whether it's via a small screen smart phone, a tablet device, a desktop widescreen or a notebook laptop.

Not only do these sites have obvious benefits for your site users and for your business, they are also great fun to design and develop. So get in touch if you have any questions about it.

We recently completed a Wordpress project for a new client, RespiraAspira. They are a campaign group pressuring for better organized traffic systems and infrastructure in Spain's major cities, and the reduction in pollution and improvements in social well-being that these changes would bring with them. They needed a blog to present their ideas and to allow them to post entries and updates about their campaign.

We put together a custom theme and helped to develop their branding also, and the result is at http://www.respiraaspira.org. We look forward to working with them more as their campaign develops.

We're working on a couple of e-commerce projects at the moment. We're developing both with hosted third party e-commerce solutions, one using Shopify and the other using the newer MagentoGo. We've worked with Shopify before, but MagentoGo is new to us. So far, the integration is going quite well after the inevitable steep learning curve. We'll post more news on both these projects as and when we're able to.

Also in current development is a site for a voiceover artist, and we get to play around with some native HTML5 audio and video (using the browser to play these files directly, rather than needing the Flash plug-in) and we're also implementing another responsive layout on this project. It's currently in development but we're hoping to have more news on its progress quite soon.

On top of the ongoing projects, we've had quite a few meetings about new projects recently, and we'll be working with a new client in the States on a design and development project that is due to start at the beginning of July. We're really looking forward to this, but can't really provide any more details at the moment - rest assured we will post more info when we can.

So… it's been a busy few weeks but good fun, and we're enjoying working with some great clients on interesting projects. Long may it continue!

site refresh and we're featured on mediaqueri.es!Posted: 24th May 2011

We were finally able to find some time to refresh our own site a little, particluarly to rework the code to make the site fully responsive. And we're very pleased to say that our site has been featured on the Media Queries responsive web design showcase.

You can see our entry at http://www.mediaqueri.es/dha and while you're there do take the time to check out some great responsive design work that is on the site. We're very pleased to be featured on the site and hope to get some of our client projects on there in the near future!

Not sure what responsive web design is all about? Web sites have long been built to fixed sizes, and these sizes have gradually widened as common user screen sizes have increased. Today though, a user may be accessing the web using a smartphone, an iPad or other tablet, a notebook, laptop or desktop browser. With such a proliferation of possible user viewing devices, it's no longer best practice to deliver a fixed width web site for everyone.

We're now able to build sites that are responsive; sites which change their layout and will reflow content according to the user's available display. So, for example, users visiting this site on an iPhone will see a layout that is designed specifically for their device width, rather than simply making do with a scaled down version of the desktop layout.

You can see screenshots of our site's different layouts at http://www.mediaqueri.es/dha. To see how the content reflows and the layouts change, you can also click and drag the browser window you're currently using to change the browser window width. (IE7 users and below will see a fixed width version - upgrade your browser!)

new client site goes live, good meetings and nice projects Posted: 9th May 2011

It's been almost exactly a month since the last update, and we've got more good project news to share.

First up was the recent launch of a new client website for a Barcelona events management company, DiscoverBcn. We designed the company branding also on this project, and the final web site can be seen at www.discoverbcn.com.

We're very pleased with this project, as it gave us a nice opportunity to implement a responsive layout. This means that the site was designed with a flexible grid, allowing the content to flow and adapt according to the user's available screen size. So, users who are viewing the site on a mobile device (such as an iPhone) will see a layout that is tailored to their viewport size, while users with more screen space available (on a maximised desktop browser, for example), will get a more traditional layout.

You don't have to have a one size fits all web site - you can allow your site users to access your content comfortably and in a manner that is appropriate for their browsing device.

Have a look at www.discoverbcn.com to see the layout adapt to the screen space available. If you're using a decent browser (Firefox, Safari, Opera - sorry, no native IE support) on a desktop, then visit the site and click and drag to reduce the width of the browser window. You'll see how the layout re-flows and changes at key points to provide better browsing experiences for users on a variety of devices.

If you have any questions about this, just get in touch, and we'd be happy to explain further.

In other news, we're working on some good new projects at the moment. There are three main new projects; an olive oil farm and online shop, a Spanish real estate company, and we are also working on a re-design of the web site for long term client Go English. These are all great projects to work on and we're looking forward to be able to bring you more news and developments shortly.

There you have it - short and sweet. For more information on what we're doing, please follow us on Twitter, and feel free to contact us for any enquiry.

new site launches, new clients and more! Posted: 8th April 2011

To avoid breaking with tradition, let's kick off this latest news round-up with the now customary apology for its tardiness. As ever, this is down to a heavy workload, for which we are of course very grateful and pleased that it shows no sign of slowing down in the coming months.

The last news covered the launch of our site for motogGP 125cc world championship rider Danny Webb, and since then we are pleased to announce the launch of a new web site for another motoGP rider, this time for moto2 world championship rider Kev Coghlan.

The project was very similar in scope and objectives to the Danny Webb site, with a focus on allowing users to enjoy all the latest race related news and results, and to have access to all the official Kev Coghlan photos.

The site is powered by our in-house content management system and has a nice fresh design that really allows the content to take centre stage. We're very pleased with this project and look forward to following Kev throughout the 2011 world championship season. You can follow him here on his new web site at www.kevcoghlan.com.

We've just launched a beta version of a web site project for another recently gained client, a new Barcelona events management company. This has been a great project to work on and we've implemented some nice responsive design techniques to keep the site flexible and fluid across multiple user viewing devices.

We'll post more information on this shortly as we are aiming to go live fairly soon after a final round of content tweaks and site checks.

Go English is one of our oldest clients, and we're really pleased to have had the chance to again work with them on the design of their latest company brochure.

The brief was to design a brochure that elegantly and clearly provided the reader with key company and service information, and gave an indication of the strengths and advantages of working with Go English. The final product is a 28 page A4 brochure that makes nice use of some elegant typography and a set of images from a real client-situation photo shoot.

As part of this project we also produced a full size poster, an A4 promotional sheet and an A6 competition handout for use at one of Go English's largest trade fairs stands.

The feedback and client response has been very positive and we're very pleased here with the results too. You can see some samples from the brochure here, here, and here, and you can also see the poster layout, and promotional coupon.

We're currently in the very early stages of an exciting site redesign for Go English and hope to have more on this for the next news round up. But needless to say, we're very pleased to be able to work on this.

In other news, we've agreed a number of other projects, and as ever are very pleased to have been able to welcome more clients on board. Each of the new projects looks really interesting and we're looking forward to working on them. More news to follow as soon as we're able to provide more details.

For more information on what we're doing, please follow digitalhappy on Twitter, and feel free to contact us for any enquiry.

project news; busy times! Posted: 7th March 2011

It's been a long time since we last updated this news section but we really have been very busy, and as ever our own news page has to take a back seat to client work.

First up is the recent launch of our new site for young British motorbike rider Danny Webb. Working closely with his management team, we put together a totally new site to present Danny's new season riding with Mahindra Racing in the world 125cc championship. The site aims to be the point of reference for all Danny Webb race and fan info, with race reports, photos from the last few seasons, results, merchandising display and up-to-the-minute news.

The site uses our in-house content management system (CMS) as its core engine, plus we have also developed some new modules and behaviours to handle the specific needs of the site. We really enjoyed working on this site and are very pleased with the results. You can see the final site at www.dannywebb.com and we're looking forward to see this site grow and develop throughout the racing season.

We're no strangers to designing for the motorbike racing community, having produced the sites for the three Hayden brothers (Nicky, Roger Lee and Tommy) a few years ago and it looks like we might have the chance to add another rider to our portfolio. As soon as we can we'll post more news on this.

As ever, we've also been working on updates to the Lucas Fox web site and administration system, specifically making structural changes for SEO purposes. This is an ongoing project for us and it's great to have the chance to work on a project with a long-term view and to see the results of our input have a positive effect on the business.

We're just now kicking off a project with another long term client, Go English. We'll be looking at working on a site redesign and relaunch and we're very excited about this! They've been a great client of ours for many years and we're really looking forward to working with them on this. We're in the initial planning stages now and hope to be able to provide more news shortly.

Further client work saw us put together some email newsletters and promotional pieces for clients Jocasi and Reflex Marine, with the latter also asking us to produce a set of DVD designs for their product range.

We're also working on a branding and site design project for a new Barcelona events company, and we hope to have the branding and logo design stage finalised within the next few days. As ever, more news to follow...

For any more information on what we're doing, please remember that you can follow digitalhappy on Twitter, and please feel free to contact us for any enquiry.

happy new year 2011! Posted: 7th January 2011

Happy New Year to you all and we hope that you've enjoyed a great holiday and are looking forward to a rewarding and prosperous 2011!

December was a busy time for us here, especially with the holidays and the year end. We launched our UK taxi web site for Kingshill Cars and the live site can be seen at www.kingshillcars.com. The brief was to allow users to quickly and easily access relevant information and then to act on the main calls to action - make a booking or an enquiry. The site has a nice, clear layout and is very focused on the user's top tasks.

Another feature of the site is its mobile friendly layout. When the site is viewed using a smartphone (for example, iPhone and similar handheld devices) the site uses an alternative layout that presents the user with a browsing experience that is tailored specifically to their device, rather than just shrinking the desktop site. You can see the mobile layout from your smartphone and if you wish you can also view it by reducing the width of your desktop browser until the layout changes over (if you're using a decent non IE browser, of course).

We're very pleased with this project and look forward to working with this client in the future.

While we're on the subject of mobile site layouts, you can also see the mobile layout of our own site, again either by accessing it with your handheld device or by reducing the browser window width until the mobile layout kicks in. (Using a decent non-IE browser, such as Safari, Firefox or Chrome). If you'd like to talk to us about the possibilities of this on your own site, please just get in touch.

We also recently completed our online level testing module for client Go English. This is a module that allows Go English to assess new students and organize new classes accordingly. There is a number of stages to the test that examine reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar skills, and the system backend allows for effective results management and feedback. We're not able to show the work here, but we can say that we're happy with the results and that so far feedback has been very positive!

In other news, the first days of the New Year have been busy as ever, and we're working on briefs for new projects and are talking to a number of possible clients about future projects. We hope to bring more detailed news shortly and as ever will post more info when we can.

Finally, to get a quick overview of our project highlights from 2010, we put together a visual end of year round-up and Christmas message that you can see at digitalhappy.com/xmas-2010. We'd like to thank all our clients for their work with us last year and we look forward to a prosperous New Year with them for 2011.

site launches, project updates and new clientsPosted: 26th November 2010

This news update arrives later than we'd like but happily that's because we've been so busy with client work.

We've recently gone live with two new sites. The first is our web site design and development project for new client OxfordTEFL. They are an international teacher training organisation with centres in Barcelona, London, Prague and Cádiz, and our brief was to design a new site for them which would effectively present their courses to the site visitors. The site uses our in-house content managment system (CMS) and we also integrated a bespoke Course Management and Pricing Module which allows OxfordTEFL to easily add to and update their product offer. The project also included a custom Wordpress blog design and set up.

This was a great project to work on and we're looking forward to developing the site further in the near future.

The site is now live and can be seen at www.oxfordtefl.com

The other project to go live since our last news update is our site for New York fashion label Milotricot. This was an interesting project as it involved the integration of an e-commerce solution. We produced a nice, clean, minimalist layout to support the brand and the e-commerce platform allows users to browse the store and make their purchases.

Feedback so far has been very positive and we look forward to collaborating further with Milotricot.

We also designed a built a number of email templates that can be easily used and are fully editable within our email marketing application to allow Milotricot's site owner to stay in front of the brand's clients with news and promotions.

The site can be seen online at www.milotricot.com.

As ever we continue our development work for Lucas Fox, and we've recently launched a new custom system backend which we've been developing for them. It provides a more streamlined user experience and has a number of visual improvements, all of which are products of recent user testing and feedback. Unfortunately, we can't show the results here, but both the client and ourselves are happy with the update and the results have been very positive.

We're very pleased to welcome another new client onboard. We're currently working on the design and build of a web site for a UK taxi company, and are hoping to launch the site before the end of the year. We've also confirmed another two new clients and we'll be able to provide more details as the projects develop over the next few weeks.

And finally, we were asked to design a flyer for an event with Jimmy White and you can see the result here and here. If you're in Barcelona on that day, go along and see the great man in person!

Please remember that you can follow us on Twitter for news and updates. If you have any questions or comments, as ever please just get in touch.

some housekeeping, client work, onwards and upwards…Posted: 13th October 2010

We've finally been able to spend a little time on some housekeeping on our own site and given it a minor refresh. Among the changes are a new restyled footer that also incorporates our latest tweets. Feel free to follow digitalhappy on Twitter and get the latest on what we're doing and what's happening.

We've also changed the site typography a little, upping the overall font size slightly and using a new typeface for headers and section headings. The typeface is called PT Sans, and it's available as part of the Google Font API.

On to client work... We had a very busy few days putting together a lot of print work to support a conference organised by client The Corporate Partnership in Amsterdam. We'd previously designed the branding and the web site of course, and were asked to put together further marketing and event materials. Both the client and ourselves are pleased with the results, and you can see some of the work here: company folder, 2m high roll up stand, mouse mat.

We produced more print work for OTC International. We recently put together a nice HTML/CSS slideshow for this client, and were asked to design an A5-sized card to accompany the course and for distribution to the students, and you can see the final layout here.

We were finally able to launch our web site for New York clothing designer Milotricot. This e-commerce site is designed to showcase the work of the label owner and of course allows visitors to buy items online. So feel free to head on over to http://www.milotricot.com and check out what's available. We wish Milotricot the best of luck with the site and look forward to collaborating with them as the site grows.

We also recently completed a client project that involved the creation of a custom Wordpress theme. This was quite a fun project and we enjoyed developing this. The site is live and the client is now busy building up the blog and adding content. As soon as there's a good level of content in the blog, we'll set down the url in a News post for public viewing.

We've delivered the beta version of the web design and CMS implementation project for our teacher training client and we hope to be able to report on the go live date in our next update. At this point we're all very happy with the site so far and we're looking forward to fine-tuning the content and getting it ready for its public release.

As ever, we're also talking to new clients and are excited about upcoming projects. We'll be posting more information on these projects when we're able to confirm details.

If you have any feedback or questions about any of the News here, please do get in touch!

back and refreshed after a great summer!Posted: 10th September 2010

Our summer holidays have been and gone and we're back and busy as usual, refreshed and enjoying working on some great client projects.

We mentioned in the last news round-up that the site for our friends and office neighbours Barcelona Adventure was about to go live, and indeed it has. The new web site is up and running at http://www.bcn-adventure.com/. The response has been very positive so far and we're pleased to see the site really working and generating fresh business.

The design phase for our recently won teacher training client is almost complete and we're really enjoying this project. It's been a smooth ride so far, with a productive wireframing process and valuable client input which has allowed us to produce a set of design that everyone is very happy with. We hope to move this into production very soon, and if all goes well we'll be announcing the site launch in the next news round up!

On the web development side, we've been busy providing ongoing support for our property client Lucas Fox, and we've also just launched the beta version of an online training application for client GoEnglish. As soon as we're out of beta and have launched fully, we'll post a link to the application here.

In other web development news we've been working on a property database application for a client based in Ibiza, as previously announced in this section. This is an ongoing project, and a fairly complex one too! More news to follow when we are further along in development.

And finally, we're once again very happy to welcome more new clients. We're going to design and build a customized WordPress site for the first of our new clients, and we're also going to be working on a site redesign and CMS implementation for an international Lanaguage and Communication Centre.

As ever, we'll look forward to releasing more details and information about these projects when we can.

big news round-up, new projects, new clients!Posted: 9th July 2010

Hell's bells! It's been several weeks since the last news update and while we like to update this section more regularly, sometimes we're just so busy with client work that it's not possible!

So this time around we've got a bumper crop of fresh news and project updates.

We were recently asked to make a HTML / CSS slideshow presentation for Reck Associates, business trainers and consultants. The brief was to create a slideshow following a pre-established script, and of course we needed to make sure that the final presentation is cross browser compatible and that the contents are accessible and search engine friendly.

The result is a great looking slideshow, that is nicely styled and accessible. Check it out here.

Our project with New York clothing label Miló is almost completed. The project involves the design and build of a content managed site with an e-commerce platform and we're almost ready to go live with the final site. In the meantime, we put together a simple, static HTML, stripped down version of the site as a teaser and you can see this here until the final, fully featured site is launched.

Existing client The Corporate Partnership recently modified their business model and asked digitalHappy to work with them on a rebranding exercise, with a brief to deliver a new corporate identity, new website, offline print materials and support PDF documents.

You may view the new web site and branding here and we're happy to say that the client is very happy with the results, as are we also!

We're very pleased to have won a number of new projects and clients since the last news update.

These include a branding and content managed web design and development project for a recruitment agency, another content managed web design and development project for a Dutch business training consultancy, and we very recently learned that we've won the contract to redesign and and implement our CMS for one of Barcelona's most established teacher training centres.

The first two of the above new projects are underway and currently in production, and we'll be able to post more news on these shortly. The last one is very new and we're about to start work on the initial site wireframing and will again post more news when we're able to.

As ever, we of course also continue to provide ongoing support for our existing clients and we've been busy working with Reflex Marine on their offline print promotional tools and with Go English on their custom web backend system.

We're also due to begin work shortly with Go English to develop a new e-commerce site, and we'll also be designing and managing their online newsletters and mailing campaigns.

And there's more...!

We're currently also working on a new site for an Ibiza based luxury property and concierge services provider and this gives us the chance to put together some great design with some detailed backend functionality. Once again, we'll post more on this project when we're able to.

Due to launch soon is a web redesign for our good friends Barcelona Adventure, and this is scheduled to go live in the next week or so, pending a final content review.

And that brings us more or less up to date!

Once again, we'd like to say a big thank you to all of our new clients for choosing digitalHappy to work on their projects, and as ever, if you have any ideas for a digital media project of any kind, please do get in touch - we'd love to hear from you!

new Lucas Fox front end goes livePosted: 29th April 2010

We've been providing web design and development services to Lucas Fox for some time now, and we're very happy to report that the new and revamped front end of their web site has just gone live.

The core functionality remains unchanged, as does our in-house engine that drives the site, but we've designed and implemented a whole new front end, giving the site a new look and feel that will provide a better, more contemporary browsing experience for the site's users.

We were asked to provide a new front end to respond to user feedback and useful empirical data based on analytics and input from the site's Search Engine Optimisation partner. Our work includes a reworking of the all important search interface on the site, presenting new ways for the user to access other key levels of the info hierarchy, and introducing better, more focused means of displaying key page info.

This is a big site with a lot of data that receives a lot of traffic, and even minor changes can have big effects. We're pleased with the work and look forward to seeing how our changes will affect the user experience as a whole and the site's overall conversion rate.

The new site is live at www.lucasfox.com so please have a look and do let us know if you have any feedback.

digitalHappy trade fair stand designs for client Go EnglishPosted: 16th April 2010

Go English asked us to design some displays for their stand at a recent trade fair and we were happy to help. Using the overall branding and corporate style guidelines that we've developed with them over the years of our work together, we produced a large format roll-up backdrop, a large format poster, some product specific A4 handouts and some competition A6 flyers.

Thanks to Go English for providing the photos of our work - it's always nice to see what we produce in action and working well for our clients!

much behind the scenes work, projects in progress and new clients
9th April 2010

This month's news round-up is a little late as we've been so busy, but here it finally is!

First up is some web development work that we've been doing. This is ColdFusion web development to integrate a well known accounting software package into a third party online shopping system. It's an interesting challenge and is a different type of project to our normal work as there is no visual element to this - it's just pure development. We're not at liberty to say who the work is for, but we can say that the client is very happy with the project so far!

Our site refresh for long term client Lucas Fox is almost ready to go live. We've designed and built the site templates and we're currently in a final check stage prior to going live. We're very happy with this project and are looking forward to seeing it go live. Needless to say, we'll update the news as soon as the new site is publicly available.

We were asked to have at a look at an existing web site for young British motorbike rider Danny Webb. He's just moved teams for the upcoming 2010 motoGP season, and his site needed to reflect the new team colours and the old site was also looking a little tired and in need of a fresher look. We spent a bit of time reworking the site's stylings, without having to change the underlying structural code, and came up with a new look and feel for the site. You can see the old site here, and then compare it with our reworked new site here.

If you think your site is looking a little tired and could benefit from a makeover, just get in touch and let us know!

We've continued our support for client Jocasi, creating and managing another promotional email send for them. It's great to hear that our work has been really working and that the email campaigns have been generating sales for the client. To see the latest in the series of 12 monthly emails that we are creating and sending for Jocasi, click here.

More online marketing and another email design and send management project for new client Health Solutions and their MultiFEV product. We're looking forward to more work with this client, and in the meantime you can see the email layout here.

Our project with our Chamber of Commerce client is progressing nicely. The logo design is complete and we're working on the offline branding materials (letterheads, business cards and tryptich). The site design is also very much in progress, and we'll shortly be moving the site into production and integrating our Content Management System. As ever, as soon as we're able to, we'll post links to the site as soon as we're able to.

We mentioned last month that we had just won a new client account for a New York based clothing label, and that we'll be designing and building the site and online shop. This is currently in production and we're putting together the e-commerce system as we speak. The project is scheduled for completion shortly so, as ever, more news to follow...

Finally, we're again very pleased to welcome another new client to the digitalhappy family. We're going to be working on the design and development of an online shop, this time for a UK based home accessories retailer. We're very happy to have a further e-commerce site to work on and we're looking forward to getting our teeth into the project.

a bumper crop of new clients, ongoing design & development work and some nice offline print projects too!Posted: 12th March 2010

This month's news round up is a little later than usual but our excuse is that we always need to focus our energies on our client work first!

Last month we reported on the print project for our client Reflex Marine and that is almost ready to go to print. As an addition to that project, we were asked to design a couple of CD-ROMs using the branding and style guideline that we've developed, and you can see the final design here.

Our property and real estate client Lucas Fox have asked us to rework their current site design and this project is currently underway. The designs have been signed off and we're currently implementing them across the site. It's a big job as this site has a lot of traffic and we're aiming to have a positive effect on site conversions. We'll post more news as the project advances further.

Our email marketing work for client Jocasi continues with the third in a series of 12 monthly emails throughout 2010. The latest email was designed with a Spring theme. It was built with love & care and the send to their database carefully managed with full stats reporting. If you're interested in reaching out to your users, clients or prospective clients, and want to have a full suite of user behaviour stats to analyse afterwards, just get in touch and let us know your ideas.

Matt has been busy on the latest version of our in-house Content Management System. We're about to launch a beta version and we're excited about the new features. Most important is a new easier to use, point-and-click facility to add new pages, delete pages and move pages within a site structure. And we've also added a shiny new user interface for our clients to enjoy. We'll be releasing a demo video shortly - as ever, more news on this to follow...

Our web design and build project for Place2Place cars is almost complete and is just about to go live - you can get a sneak preview of the new site layout here.

We've also been working with long-term client Go English in the last few weeks as they asked us to revamp their company brochure. It's now gone to print and you can see some of the page layouts here, here and here.

In addition to all this, we've also been providing more design support for Winzingo in the build up to their site launch - more news to follow, of course - and we're very pleased to welcome onboard more new clients! We'll be working with a New York based designer clothing label on the design and build of their site and online shop, plus we'll be working with a Barcelona coaching and business consultancy company on their new web site.

ongoing projects, new clients and email campaignsPosted: 5th February 2010

As ever, we're busy but enjoying working on some good projects and we've had some productive meetings with new clients about upcoming work.

The Reflex Marine project mentioned in the last news round-up is progressing well, and the first draft of the user pack that we're designing for them has come back from the printers and is being proofed for amendments and corrections. If all goes well, we should be nearing completion on this shortly. In the meantime, you can see some draft layouts here, here, and here.

More good news with long time client Jocasi partnering with us to design and send a series of 12 monthly emails to support their 2010 sales campaign. The first email has gone out and you can see the final layout here.

This month also saw us putting together and managing the send of an HTML email for Reflex Marine. The email was designed to alert users to an important product manual revision. As ever, if you have an idea for any online promotion, don't hesitate to get in touch, and if you wish you can see some of our internet marketing work here.

Our branding work for our Chamber of Commerce client (mentioned in the previous post) is well under way and we're pleased with how it's progressing. As soon as we're able to, we'll post the final logo designs for viewing.

We've also been kept busy providing ongoing support for many of our clients and we've had some good meetings about upcoming projects with new clients... more news when we're able to confirm project start dates!

a great start to 2010Posted: 15th January 2010

2010 has got off to a good, busy start here at digitalHappy. We're working on the product user pack print design project for our client Reflex Marine and the initial designs and concepts have already been signed off. We'll post images and more news of this project as and when we are able to.

We're also in the early stages of a web design and build project for a taxi and limousine company with bases across the South of England. We're really excited about this project, and looking forward to meeting the usability and site conversion challenges.

More great news for 2010 is another addition to the digitalHappy client list. We've been asked to design the overall branding and web site for a Barcelona based Chamber of Commerce. We can't say much more at the moment but we're due to start on this in the third week of January with the design and definition of the organisation's branding and corporate identity.

Just before Christmas we delivered our design and coding work to our online bingo client and this is currently being used by their in-house development team as a basis for their site. As soon as we are able to, we'll post screenshots of the completed and fully integrated results of our collaboration.

All in all, things are shaping up very well, and we're very happy with the new clients and exciting web design projects to get our teeth into. As ever, if you have a project that you'd like to talk about, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

2009 round up!Posted: 18th December 2009

The Christmas holidays are almost on us and the year is drawing to a close at digitalHappy. This has been a great year for us, and we'd like to give our sincerest thanks to all our clients. We've had the good fortune to work on some great new projects with some very good clients and of course we mustn't forget all of our ongoing and existing clients for whose support we are very grateful.

This month has been very busy with a number of meetings for 2010 projects. We've got several new projects scheduled to begin as soon as we get back from the Christmas holidays. We're looking forward to working on these and will post more info in January as we begin work on them.

We created a couple of nice HTML emails for clients this month, and managed the send and delivery reporting also. You can see the Jocasi Christmas promotional email here and the Lucas Fox festive email here. If you're looking to develop your online marketing and would like to talk about the possibilities open to you with email marketing, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

We'd like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a successful New Year!

client site launch, new clients and project updatesPosted: 2nd December 2009

November has been a very busy month for us, and we're very happy to report that we've again gained new clients in the past month, as well as completing a number of projects that were previously in development.

The new website for St. George's Church in Barcelona has just been launched and is now live and available for viewing. We didn't handle the design work on this project, working instead on taking the designs, putting together the front-end code and then implementing the back-end content management system.

Feedback from the project owners and stakeholders has been very positive and we'd like to wish this client the best of luck with the new site and look forward to working with them on future developments of the site.

Throughout the last month we were also working on two separate projects that both involved a complete branding and corporate identity exercise (logo design, company literature and brochure design) plus the design and build of a content managed web site for each. This work was done for another agency and we're not at liberty to show the work but suffice to say the results are good and the end client is happy!

More great news as we welcome another new client to digitalHappy. We've just started work on the design and general online styles to be applied to the web site of a leading online bingo company. This is a really interesting project, with many design challenges including usability, user experience and interface design. We're very pleased to have the chance to work on it and there will be more news to follow as the project gets further underway...

There has also been a fair amount of maintenance work and support carried out for our existing clients, including preparatory work for a new company brochure for Go English and some further development work on the CRM used by our client Lucas Fox. We will also shortly be starting work on the offline design and production of some new product packs as part of our ongoing work for our client Reflex Marine.

digitalHappy to develop the new St. George's Church in Barcelona websitePosted: 2nd November 2009

We're very pleased to be able to welcome St. George's Church in Barcelona to the digitalHappy client list and we're looking forward to working on the project. This client was referred to us from an existing client, and that really is the best way forward in our business - satisfied clients who are happy to recommend our services to their business network.

For this project we'll be working on the front end development and then the implementation of the backend and the content management system. There will be a few specific modules developed for the project that will allow the site owners to achieve their functionality targets, and we'll be able to provide more details as we approach the site launch.

new clients and projects updatePosted: 1st October 2009

Our web project for Merkado went live recently and you can see the site here. The project went smoothly and we look forward to providing continued support and further development when necessary.

We're also pleased to welcome a new addition to our client list. We were approached by a sponsorship agency looking to design and develop from scratch their online identity and the project is moving along nicely. The initial investigation and subsequent design stages have been completed to everyone's great satisfaction, and we're currently working on the site build. As soon as the site goes live, we'll post the url here. In the meantime, you can see a quick design screenshot here.

We've been busy working on the ongoing projects and providing support to existing clients. Merkado is about to go live and we'll announce this and provide the final url as soon as we can.
